Voraxis: route, fight and drops

Voraxis the Quake Thresher is the base-game boss in Timid Kyle’s Neglected Opening Abandoned Auger Mine, Coastal Bonescape, Fadefields. The route below follows MentalMars’ original encounter guide, checked October 18, 2026.

Unlock and approach

  1. Complete the main story mission Shadow of the Mountain in Terminus Range to gain access to the Abandoned Auger Mines.
  2. Fast-travel to Abandoned Post Safehouse.
  3. Walk north to the Auger Mine cave entrance and continue to the encounter.
  4. After clearing it, use Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine outside the arena to repeat the boss. This route does not rely on an invented 60–90-second cooldown.

Recognize the attacks

The Thresher emerges from underground and attacks directly. It can spit flaming rocks and eggs that produce smaller Threshers. Keep room to move sideways when a projectile approaches, and use the smaller enemies as possible Second Wind targets rather than automatically clearing every target at once.

The original guide identifies a flesh health bar and Incendiary damage as the relevant weakness. Check the health bar you actually see if an activity modifier or later update changes the encounter.

Dedicated loot

  • Darkbeast — Daedalus SMG with piercing shots and hit-triggered explosions.
  • Buoy — Ripper grenade Ordnance that places a short-range floating contact mine.
  • Potato Thrower IV — Torgue assault rifle; its item guide also documents a Rippa Roadbirds farm.

MentalMars reports a 9% base dedicated chance plus 2 percentage points per UVH rank for these drops. This is the author’s published model, not a drop sample measured by BL4 Tools or a guarantee after a fixed number of clears.

Make the repeat route useful

Before paying for another attempt, inspect the loot you obtained, clear inventory space and restore ammunition. Compare the effect and parts on the current item card with the individual gear guide; a higher rarity alone does not establish whether a roll suits your build.
