The borderlands 4 raid boss 2 is the second endgame raid encounter, officially named The Sundered Choir. Search interest is up ~30 percent over the last 30 days as more endgame players hit it. This is the first raid in 1.4 that genuinely requires a full team composition and synced phase swaps. We are an unofficial fan site, verified against Patch 1.4 (2026-04-22).

Type: Raid (4-player recommended; soloable on builds)
Region: The Sundered Vault, Mayhem-only access
Level range: Lv 50+, Mayhem 3 minimum
Recommended Vault Hunter: Harlowe (utility lead) + 3 DPS
Estimated time: 15-25 minutes per attempt

How to unlock

Three conditions must be true to access the borderlands 4 raid boss 2:

  1. Main story complete
  2. Mayhem mode enabled, level 3 or higher
  3. The first raid (Hollowmaw) cleared at least once on the same character

Once unlocked, fast-travel to The Sundered Vault opens. There is a 30-minute lockout between attempts.

Solo is possible on min-maxed Harlowe or Vex builds, but 4-player is dramatically faster.

Step-by-step walkthrough

  1. Phase 1 — The Voice (100 to 75 percent HP). The boss is stationary, sings a sustained tone, and the entire arena is in a damage-up zone. Burst phase. Pop all action skills.
  2. Phase 2 — The Echo (75 to 50 percent HP). Boss splits into three echoes. Two are illusions and reflect damage. The real one has no shadow on the floor — that is the tell. Focus only the no-shadow echo.
  3. Phase 3 — The Choir (50 to 25 percent HP). Adds spawn — six “chorister” enemies with a stacking debuff aura. Your off-tank pulls aggro. Cleanse stacks every 3-4 seconds via Harlowe’s action skill or by killing a chorister.
  4. Phase 4 — The Silence (25 to 0 percent HP). Boss recombines, all damage zones disappear, and the floor becomes the only damage source — small safe rings appear and rotate. Stay on the rings, burst the boss.

The chorus mechanic

This is what separates wipes from clears. Every “chorus” sing-pulse stacks a debuff on every player in the arena. At 5 stacks, you take double damage. At 10, instant down. The cleanse window is short (~1.5 seconds) and only triggers when:

  • A chorister enemy dies, OR
  • Harlowe’s cleanse skill activates, OR
  • A player picks up a “Resonant Stone” from the floor (random spawn every ~20 seconds)

Coordinate cleanse calls in voice chat. Solo runs require a Harlowe utility build with cooldown reduction.

  • Vault Hunter: Harlowe utility for the team lead, or Vex burst for solo
  • Primary: High-DPS sustained weapon (AR or LMG)
  • Secondary: Cryo or shock for the chorister adds
  • Shield: High-capacity, fast-recharge
  • Class mod: Cooldown reduction is the most valuable stat for the borderlands 4 raid boss 2
  • Action skill: Anything that grants damage windows or cleanses

See Build Planner for raid-tuned presets.

Rewards

  • Choirfall — Legendary launcher, ~7 percent drop
  • Sundered Chord — Guaranteed relic on first clear of the week, +20 percent damage in chorus phases
  • Ascendant gear pool — 1-2 ascendant-rarity drops per clear (BL4’s tier above legendary)
  • Mayhem currency — 1500 guaranteed

Common mistakes

  • Shooting the wrong echo in phase 2. Real one has no floor shadow. Damage on the illusions is reflected.
  • Standing still in phase 4. The damage rings rotate; keep moving.
  • Ignoring chorister adds in phase 3. The stacking debuff snowballs faster than you think.
  • Going in below Mayhem 3. The fight scales but the loot does not.
